Designation Requirements

As part of its quality initiative, UCF offers different course designations, which have slightly different requirememnts regarding accessibility. They are:

In the chart below, if a requirement is listed in the designation’s review, its number is listed:

23 16 23 16 The course content is readily attainable, including external links, resources, and technologies.
24 16 24 16 Course materials are properly formatted with headings, lists, and other styles to enhance readability and improve the structure of the document (e.g., heading levels are not skipped, formatting styles are appropriately applied).
25 16 25 16 Color contrast between the text and background has an appropriate ratio (e.g., 4.5:1) to ensure the content can be easily viewed.
26 16 26 16 Color alone is not used to convey meaning (e.g, italics or bold text are used in addition to color).
27 16 27 16 Hyperlink text is descriptive and makes sense when read out of context (e.g., “UCF” rather than “www.ucf.edu or Click here”).
28 16 28 16 A text equivalent (e.g., alt text, a caption, text description) is provided for images.
29 16 29 16 Tables include row and/or column headers.
  14   14 Tables include a descriptive title or caption.
30 16 30 16 Multimedia (audio, graphics, and video) are easy to access and use (e.g., movement through presentations can be controlled; video can be resized; attainable on mobile devices).

In terms of accessibility, Quality Online and Quality Blended courses have identical requirements. High Quality Online and High Quality Blended course do, too, which are the same as the others, but with two small additions: titles or captions on tables and transcripts for videos.
